I am a licensed psychologist with a well-established clinical research program in Parkinson’s disease (PD).
I am a Professor of Psychiatry at Rutgers University and have full clinical and research privileges at the NJ VA Medical Center.
Key objectives of my research program include 1) improving the recognition, assessment and treatment of the neuropsychiatric complications of PD, including cognition, depression, anxiety, and sleep, 2) advancing the understanding of the complex interaction between the motor and non-motor symptoms of PD and the influence of this interaction on course and progression of PD, and 3) utilizing applications of telemedicine to leverage access to informed mental health care for all members of the PD community. To date, my PD research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Patterson Trust Awards Program in Clinical Research, the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, the Parkinson’s Unity Walk, the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PAIR Leadership Award), the Health Services Research and Development Division (HSR&D; Merit Award) of the Veteran Affairs Administration, and the VA Office of Rural Health.
