My primary program of research spans the substance use continuum and ranges from preventing substance use initiation to improving treatment engagement, retention, and care of individuals in recovery from substance use disorders, specifically opioid use disorder. My research has also focused on understanding the individual and joint contributions of environmental factors and individual characteristics (e.g., behavioral phenotypes, genetic predispositions) that may influence the developmental course of suicidal behaviors, particularly among adolescents and young adults.
