Dr. Carolyn Sartor’s research focuses on understanding the role of social and environmental factors in substance use, particularly in marginalized youth populations. She is the Principal Investigator of NIH-funded studies examining racial microaggressions and their association with alcohol use in African-American young adults. Her work seeks to identify protective and risk factors to inform prevention strategies for substance use in Black and Latinx youth.
Dr. Sartor’s ongoing research includes projects exploring cultural and environmental influences on early stages of substance use, and she is an active contributor to several interdisciplinary initiatives addressing health disparities.
